It's been a few voyages since last we heard from Captain Jack and the Black Pearl, but Disney just unveiled an exciting new adventure for our favorite pirate.

Made famous by the immortal Johnny Depp, Captain Jack Sparrow has been the face of the Pirates of the Caribbean brand for years. Alas, it's been far too long since last we saw our swarthy and suave swashbuckler.

While we might not see a true PotC sequel for a long while (though efforts are being made), Disney recently announced that Captain Jack and his crew of pirates would be storming the Disney Cruise Line with an all-new experience aboard the Disney Adventure.

Set sail with Captain Jack in 2025

Both the Disney Parks and the Disney Cruise Line have a wealth of entertainment opportunities available, and the Disney Adventure is no exception. The ship is slated to get a bevy of new shows this year, including appearances from our favorite Marvel superheroes and Duffy the Disney Bear.

However, one show that caught this writer's attention was a live stage show featuring the return of Captain Jack in a new adventure. Captain Jack Sparrow and the Siren Queen is slated to hit the stage of the Disney Adventure later this year, and it already looks like a fantastic time.

The Disney Parks Blog had this to say about the new experience,

"Join Captain Jack Sparrow and his band of pirates as they battle with an ink-squirting giant squid and hunt for a rare, dazzling treasure during 'Captain Jack Sparrow & The Siren Queen.' This all-new show coming to the Disney Imagination Garden stage will have swashbucklers of all ages singing a hearty 'Yo ho!' as you’re recruited for a thrilling journey with the sea’s most charming, yet roguish, captain and his pirate crew."

This is certainly an exciting development, especially given the tumultuous history The Walt Disney Company has had regarding its involvement with Johnny Depp. While we can't say for certain, this decision might pave the way for a fresh look at the PotC franchise.

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas, but the fact that Disney is investing anything in the franchise at all should have die-hard fans on alert. This writer is certainly looking with greater interest.

Do you think Captain Jack will take to the seas again?
