Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is the rock on which Walt Disney Animation Studios is built, but it's upcoming live-action remake has been making waves in the wrong direction. From conflicts with its leading lady to CGI dwarves, Disney fans aren't exactly hopeful... and neither is the studio.
Despite almost universal hate for the film, Disney continues to try to save face with much of its marketing. Although the trailers might evoke a sense of nostalgia for many, a recent movie poster for the upcoming adaptation seems to throw up the white flag.
Stitch says Snow White bites!
For those not in the know, Snow White isn't the only Disney classic getting a live-action remake this year, and there might be a good reason for that. As the upcoming princess flick has been absolutely reamed across social media, Disney let Stitch out of his cage for his turn in live action.
In this writer's opinion, there are arguably more fans for the little blue troublemaker already, and easily more than enough to make Snow White's blown budget back. Judging by the tagline on the poster on Disney's social media profiles, it seems like Disney knows that too.
On one hand, this might be Disney following tradition by having Stitch invade other Disney properties as he did in the "Get Your Own Movie" ad campaign years ago. Snow White isn't the only poster he's crashed, after all. However, it might be the studio's subtle way of acknowledging it was wrong.
"Not just another bad apple" certainly sounds like the studio already admits they messed up with Snow White as Stitch takes another bite from the Queen's apple. Hype for the Lilo and Stitch remake has been much more favorable on social media, and it looks like more love was put into bringing him onto the big screen one more time. The question is, will he be able to clean up her mess?
Lilo and Stitch hits theatres on May 23, 2025.
