Walt Disney World is one of the best places to spend the holidays. But most people typically think of Magic Kingdom as the premiere destination thanks to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. And in recent years, Disney has added the Jollywood Nights Christmas Party as a second ticketed event.

Disney's Animal Kingdom is often forgotten about, despite December being one of the best times to go because of the weather. The cooler weather typically means more active animals, which is great for the Kilimanjaro Safaris.

This year, Disney is adding even more fun ways to celebrate the holidays. Check out some of the fun festivities Disney has planned for Animal Kingdom Park below!

Meet Santa Claus as Disney's Animal Kingdom

In the past, you could catch Kris Kingle waving to guests as he rode the waterways during the holiday calvalcades. But this year, you can actually meet him!

Over on the patio at Restaurantosaurus is the 75th Annual Dino Institute Party. This will serve as the festive new location where you can meet Santa Claus. You'll be able to meet him throughout the day from November 12 through November 24.

Meet Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in festive attire

In addition to Santa Claus, you'll be able to meet Disney's main stars, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, dressed in their festive finest. You can meet them for a meet-and-greet and photo opportunity at Adventurers Outpost.

And finally, the Tree of Life Awakenings will have spirits of winter animals brought to life for photo opportunities.

Disney's Animal Kingdom isn't typically known for its holiday festivities, but it's nice to see it finally getting some attention. It's still not quite on the scale of Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios, but it may be the quickest and easiest way to sneak a quick photo with Santa and Mickey and Minnie.

I know everyone wants to meet Santa at the Magic Kingdom, but last year I got to meet him rather quickly at Hollywood Studios, and they had an amazing set up. I'd give it a chance at Animal Kingdom, too.
