Star Wars Skeleton Crew just wrapped up its wild first season, so could another year come? The producers seem to have ideas for it!

Caution: This article contains SPOILERS for Star Wars Skeleton Crew Season 1

Season 1 of Skeleton Crew revolved around Wim (Ravi Cabot-Conyers), Neel (Robert Timothy Smith), Fern (Ryan Kiera Armstrong), and KB (Kyriana Kratter), four kids living in the peaceful world of At Attin.

The quartet stumble onto a spaceship which rocketed them off their homeworld to the wider galaxy. They were met up by Jord (Jude Law), a Force user who was eventually revealed to be a pirate captain wanting his crew back.

A running plotline had the kids discovering the secret of their homeworld: At Attin was basically a planet-sized mint run by a computer supervisor and so cut off from the rest of the galaxy that didn't even know the Old Republic had fallen. The planet was kept hidden via a cloaking device, making it look uninhabitable. They kept producing Old Republic credits and making it a legendary "lost treasure world."

After teasing being a good guy, Jord revealed his true colors, forcing the kids to take him back to At Attin. He then arranged for his pirate crew to attack the world and rob it while using it as his own private mint.

The kids managed to fight back, aided by their parents, to take down the planetary shield. That allowed some New Republic X-Wings to take out the pirates. The season ended with them triumphant while dealing with the galaxy now knowing At Attin was real.

That was a notable turn to end the first year. So, are we getting a second, and if so, what does it involve?

Is Season 2 of Skeleton Crew coming?

The show earned good reviews, and the fan buzz grew as it went on. Many loved it for capturing the vibe of 1980s movies like The Goonies and a nice charm to it.

Yet that may not be enough to win a second season. After all, Disney just axed The Acolyte, the reported reason being its high budget and lower viewing numbers. That proves that just being a Star Wars show doesn't mean a second season is guaranteed.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, creators Jon Watts and Christopher Ford seemed hopeful for a second year, especially Watts.

"We haven't gotten deep into those conversations... But we're excited. We're happy that people are finding the show as well. We've slowly been building viewers over each episode, so that's a really exciting thing to watch that grow, and the word of mouth has been really positive. So we're excited to get back together with everyone and talk about the future soon."

It does seem to help the show's budget is lower than The Acolyte (a reported $136 million) and Skeleton Crew getting better reviews. That makes it more likely that a second season could be coming, and there are good ideas for it.

What's coming for Skeleton Crew Season 2?

The show ended on a good note, especially on Jord. He revealed he'd been a street kid when a runaway Jedi found him and taught him some of the Force before she was killed. That turned him into his pirate life.

The final scene had Jord watching his crew run off under the New Republic attack and the question of what happens next. Ford and Watts hinted that Season 2 might show flashbacks to Jord's life and what shaped him into this man while he seeks another big score.

One challenge will be the classic quandary of any TV show starring little kids: What happens when they hit puberty? Netflix's Stranger Things has had to handle the reality that their lead actors are too old to be believable as high schoolers.

Watts explained that, "We wouldn't pretend like the kids are only six months older if we made more. It is fun to think of them growing up and where they would fit into the galaxy and how their world would be changed by the events of what happened in the first season."

Ford added that a key storyline would be how the entire galaxy knows about At Attin, with the populace naturally rocked to learn of the rise and fall of the Empire. The pair hinted this might tie in to other Star Wars shows as well.

One thing fans are hopeful for is Season 2 to bring in the beloved Clone Wars animated character Hondo Ohnaka. The good-humored pirate is a huge fan favorite, even appearing in the Millennium Falcon Smuggler's Run ride at Galaxy's Edge.

Eagle-eyed viewers spotted Hondo's ship Katooni in a scene. Ford had told TV Line that they loved Hondo but couldn't fit him into the story. However, Season 2 would be a perfect spot to have Hondo and Jord face off.

As of now, this is speculation, with Skeleton Crew still awaiting a renewal confirmation. Those who watched and loved this first season are thus hopeful this won't be the end of the Crew's adventures in this galaxy.
