We've got the cast list for Avengers: Doomsday, and it's practically every major heavy hitter in the MCU so far!

It would be an understatement to say Avengers: Doomsday has changed a bit since its conception. In what seems like much longer ago, as 2023 began, the plan was set for Phase 5 of the MCU to culminate in the epic Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and then Avengers: Secret Wars.

This was to put the focus on the time-traveling Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors. However, his would-be big entry, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania underperformed at the box office. That was followed by Majors being arrested and put on trial for assaulting his girlfriend. While the actor is trying for a comeback, a return as Kang is highly unlikely.

Combine that with the 2023 Hollywood strikes and the rest of the MCU in flux and things had to be changed. Thus, rather than Kang, the big event movie will be Avengers: Doomsday, with the controversial casting of Robert Downey Jr as the iconic Marvel villain Doctor Doom.

Plot details are still under wraps, and the anticipation is high for who could appear. Elizabeth Olsen has already confirmed she won't be back as the Scarlet Witch, Scarlett Johansson is adamant that the Black Widow is dead and Chris Evans also stated he won't be back as Captain America.

However, during  a live-stream event, the main cast for Avengers: Doomsday was announced, and it's a doozy!

Who's in Avengers: Doomsday?

Right now, the fun is seeing which MCU actors won't be in the movie, as the list is pretty big and, as of 5 pm EST on March 26, is still going.

  • Chris Hemsworth as Thor
  • Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm / The Invisible Woman
  • Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Captain America
  • Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier
  • Letitia Wright as Shuri / Black Panther
  • Paul Rudd as Scott Lang / Ant-Man
  • Wyatt Russell as John Walker / US Agent
  • Tenoch Huerta Mejia as Namor
  • Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm / The Thing
  • Simu Liu as Shang-Chi
  • Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova
  • Kelsey Grammer as Beast
  • Lewis Pullman as Bob / Sentry
  • Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres / The Falcon
  • Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm / The Human Torch
  • David Harbour as Red Guardian
  • Winston Duke as M'Baku
  • Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost
  • Tom Hiddleston as Loki
  • Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier
  • Ian McKellan as Magneto
  • Channing Tatum as Gambit
  • James Marsden as Cyclops
  • Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic
  • Rebecca Romijin as Mystique
  • Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler

The choice of stars is interesting. Yelena, US Agent, Ghost, Red Guardian, and Sentry are from the upcoming Thunderbolts*, which gives away they'll survive. The additions of the actors from the coming Fantastic Four: First Steps is more intriguing as that movie is set in the 1960s, so the question of how they arrive in the present.

Loki's return is a surprise as his TV show ended with the character seemingly exiling himself to another dimension to safeguard the multiverse. Still, the return of this beloved MCU anti-hero should spark the movie up more.

The addition of Grammer, Stewart, McKellan, and others indicates the movie will link the MCU to the X-Men films. It's quite likely that there will be a lot more castings coming, and probably some surprise cameos, too.

The movie has challenges as the MCU has been in a bit of a rut, and the casting of Downey Jr. as Doom seems like a desperate move. There's still more to come before production begins, but this first cast announcement shows that Doomsday is set to be the biggest MCU movie yet.

Avengers: Doomsday scheduled to premiere in theaters May 1, 2026.
