It's safe to say that Bluey is one of the most successful properties on Disney+, and a recent partnership between Ludo Studios and The Walt Disney Company promises big things for the beloved blue dog. However, it's about more than featherwands and Keepy Uppy.

As one of the most watched programs on the platform, it's only natural that Disney would want to expand. Even Bluey creator Joe Brumm expressed interest in making a film long before it was announced. However, could a Bluey movie pull Disney out of the dregs?

Disney leaves the dog house

Until the release of Inside Out 2 (2024), Disney suffered through what many fans called its "Flop Era," as the once-proud studio spiraled on a troublesome trajectory. Even the studio's 100th anniversary was met with a lukewarm film as Wish (2023) fizzled at the theaters.

Although Disney appears to be on the mend, a Bluey movie would absolutely rake in the dough. That's also not even mentioning the fact that Bluey and Bingo making their appearances in the parks and on the cruise line.

With that in mind, let's review the facts. Disney has incorporated one of the most successful characters on streaming into the parks, which means an increase in Bluey-focused experiences and merchandise sales, which leads to a movie, which leads to even more merch, which leads to fat stacks for Disney.

It's kind of an open secret that park tickets and souvenirs are how Disney's money is really made, and incorporating more of such a successful property was truly a genius move on the mouse's part. As the saying goes, always give the people what they want.

While it's true that we won't see the film until 2027, there's not a doubt in this fan's mind that Disney doesn't already have something in the works to tide us over. Until then, we'll have to keep our eyes on the dog.

Bluey and all her content can be streamed on Disney+ and ABC iView.
