Earlier this month, Disney and Lucasfilm announced that Andor Season 2 will be premiering on Disney+ in April 2025. That's not the critically acclaimed Star Wars series returning next year, though.

Lucasfilm announced this week that another fan-favorite show will be coming to Disney+ in 2025, and it's one that may have flown under the radar for many of you.

I'm talking about Star Wars: Visions, the animated anthology series featuring short stories set in or inspired by the mythos of Star Wars, told through unique cultural lenses.

Star Wars: Visions Volume 1 debuted in 2021 with nine anime-inspired short stories told by seven different Japanese studios: Kamikaze Douga, Studio Colorido, Geno Studio, Trigger, Kinema Citrus, Production I.G, and Science Saru. Volume 2 was released on Disney+ in 2023 and expanded the concept with stories told and animated by studios from around the world including Aardman (U.K.), El Guiri (Spain), Cartoon Saloon (Ireland), Punkrobot (Chile), Studio Mir (South Korea), Studio La Cachette (France), 88 Pictures (India), D’art Shtajio (Japan) along with Lucasfilm (U.S.), and Triggerfish (South Africa/Ireland).

Both Volume 1 and Volume 2 were huge hits with critics, praised for the unique animation and bold storytelling. Volume 1 received a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics praising it as "gorgeously animated and wildly creative." Volume 2, with a perfect 100% score, was hailed as "the work of Jedi Masters."

With such widespread praise, it should come as no surprise then that Star Wars: Visions will return for a third volume. Lucasfilm confirmed Volume 3 will debut in 2025 and even revealed the studios that will be involved.

For the upcoming season, Star Wars: Visions is returning to its anime roots. Volume 3 will feature nine shorts from nine different anime studios. Returning contributors Kamikaze Douga, Kinema citrus Co.,Production I.G, and TRIGGER will be joined by five new anime studios ANIMA (in co-production with Kamikaze Douga),David Production,Polygon Pictures,Project Studio Q,andWIT Studio.

For those unfamiliar with the anime space, these are some pretty big names. Production I.G is known for Ghost in the Shell, while TRIGGER has produced Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, Kill la Kill and more.
