By now, many Disney fans have taken more than one trip on EPCOT's newest dark coaster, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Like the source material that its based on, music plays a big role in the attraction, driving home the coaster's thrill. There are currently six songs that are played in rotation:

  • "Conga" by Miami Sound Machine
  • "Everybody Wants to Rule the World by Tears" for Fears
  • "One Way" or Another by Blondie
  • "I Ran by Flock" of Seagulls
  • "September" by Earth, Wind and Fire
  • "Disco Inferno" by The Tramps

Each of the tracks adds a unique flair to the ride experience with some being a better fit than others. Like everything, some songs work and some don't work as well. This got us thinking about which other songs would make for a good ride experience

While Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 updated their soundtrack to include music from the 2000s, Disney should stick with the classics from the 1970s and 1980s to keep with the original motion picture soundtrack. Alas, using those songs may not be a great idea although some still are surprised that Cosmic Rewind doesn't feature any music from the soundtracks.

"Were Not Gonna Take It" by Twister Sister

At first, I wasn't sure how this rock song would mesh with the ride itself but the intro was a solid thumping beat and by the time the lyrics cut you were hit with the special effects of the visuals and it became seemless from start to finish.

This actually may be one of my top songs to play during Cosmic Rewind the more I listen to it and sync it with the ride. The opening is perfect and it trails at the end to coincide with the ride's end perfectly. The story the lyrics tell also fits better with the story of the ride than every other song.

If there is a nearly perfect song for Cosmic Rewind, this may be it. Start the sycn at the 00:52 second mark of the official video.
