Disney is in the process of bringing back Freaky Friday, a classic that was remade and will now have another sequel. O.k. fine, but one former property should just be left alone entirely.

According to a new report from The Hollywood Reporter, 20th Century Studios will develop a remake of Enemy Mine, a classic sci-fi film that does not need to be remade, retold, or modernized. Disney should leave this one alone.

Enemy Mine stars Dennis Quaid and the late, great, Louis Gossett, Jr. who play opposing soldiers in a battle across the cosmos. Marooned on a planet that is barely livable, they must put aside their hatred of each other in order to survive. There have been many ideations of this type of film, from WWII and WWI epics to even Korean made entries but Enemy Mine was different in some ways.

Made in 1985 the film is outdated for sure. The cinematography and the special effects are all outdated but does it really need to be remade? Do we really need another "human makes friends with an alien" type film? Probably not.

What is interesting is that this is a property that took a stab at Disney way back when. The character, played by Gossett, during an argument with Quaid's human character, says, "Your Mickey Mouse is one big stupid dope."

It isn't entirely clear if the next ideation will be a series or a film but considering that 20th Century is involved, it will likely be a film and that will also likely mean a series of films if the studios believe they can arc and alter the storyline enough to make it a big enough draw.
