American Idol, the long-running ABC hit talent contest, will return to the world of Disney on Sunday night.

Many fans have turned away from American Idol over the years. Real fans have continued to stick around and as the singing competition heads to its finale, they are turning to Disney for inspiration.

The competition is down to the final 5 contestants on the 22nd season of American Idol. Sunday night's episode will be the penultimate episode. ABC announced that the final five will travel to Disney World, where they will be mentored by Kane Brown and then will perform not one but two favorites from the Disney Songbook.

The top five consist of Abi Carter, Jack Blocker, Triston Harper, Will Mosely, and Emmy Russell. The judges on this year's show are Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Ritchie. Ryan Seacrest continues his run as the host of the show. He has hosted by himself for 21 of the 22 seasons having co-hosted season one. Perry, a fan favorite announced that 2024 will be her last on the series.

ABC has not released the song titles of those "favorites" that will be sung on the Mother's Day episode, but it will be interesting to see if Katy Perry dresses up again for the show. Here are some of her moments after dressing for A.I. as Snow White.

Fans of the show can vote on who they want to continue in the competition. Numbers to call or text will be provided during the live performances. The top vote-getters will appear in the season finale that will air on May 19th. Sunday's episode will air at 8:00 p.m. Eastern.

Previous winners of the show have included Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Jennifer Hudson. Others who have not won but found the series a springboard include Chris Daughtry, Kellie Pickler, and Katharine McPhee, who coincendially spent a day with her family at EPCOT a couple of months ago and will take a touring schedule break.
