Comic-Con 2023: Marvel Studios drops official trailer for The Marvels

Although Marvel Studios didn't have its same presence at San Diego Comic-Con this year, that didn't stop the studio from participating in some of the festivities. Capitalizing on the excitement surrounding the fan event, Marvel dropped the official trailer for The Marvels.

It's our best look yet at the upcoming superhero film which features Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel and Captain Monica Rambeau in an exciting adventure to save the universe. While each of these heroes are strong in their own right, The Marvels features a power-bending twist; an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary sees their powers become entangled with one another.

The trailer also gives us a better look at the main antagonist of the movie, Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton). Seen wielding a Kree hammer similar to the one used by Ronan the Accuser in 2014's Guardians of the Galaxy as well as a bangle that looks similar to the one used by Ms. Marvel, it seems Dar-Benn will have plenty of power at her disposal.

"You took everything from me, and now I'm returning the favor," she tells Captain Marvel before unleashing a massive blast of purple energy.

I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical of The Marvels when it was first teased but this official trailer has me on the hype train. Marvel has been in a bit of a rut of late, so they really need this movie to succeed. There's a bit of concern that theatergoers are experiencing a bit of superhero fatigue, although Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 proved there's still excitement for the MCU.

The Marvels flies into theaters on November 10. You may want to familiarize yourself with the three main characters. 2019's Captain Marvel movie and 2022's Ms. Marvel series are both available to watch on Disney+. You may even want to check out the ongoing Secret Invasion miniseries.
