This summer, Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool and Hugh Jackman's Wolverine will make their long-awaited debut together in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But while Marvel Studios' Deadpool & Wolverine movie will hit theaters this July, Marvel Comics has another project involving these two fan-favorite characters set to arrive on May 1st.

Announced back in February, Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII is a new three-part comic book series from writer Joe Kelly and artist Adam Kubert.

The limited series follows the Merc with a Mouth and the adamantium-clawed mutant as they take on an all-new supervillain by the name of Delta who possesses the power to amplify a person's abilities, strength and savagery.

While we're used to seeing Deadpool and Wolverine fight, in this new comic series they'll have to put aside their differences and work together to survive against a twisted group of individuals. Marvel released a new trailer for the upcoming comic book series which gives us just a taste of the intense action that awaits in Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, Kelly revealed that one of the fun parts about working on this comic was coming up with ways to put characters "through the physical ringer" and trying to "one-up the next person." The trailer certainly packs an explosive, gory punch. And if it's any indication, we are in for quite an exciting ride. Marvel describes the series as relentlessly explosive and deliciously violent."

The Deadpool & Wolverine: WWIII series will consist of three parts. Issue #1 will arrive on May 1, 2024, but is already available for pre-order at local comic shops.

The inaugural issue will feature a cover with art by Adam Kubert. There will be five variant covers available from artists Rob Liefeld, Inhyuk Lee, Gabriel Dell'otto, and Todd Nauck.

With the MCU's Deadpool & Wolverine movie coming this summer, this series should provide a nice entry point for anyone unfamiliar with the two characters. Although it's unrelated to the movie, it will help newcomers familiarize themselves with the ridiculous action that's associated with Deadpool.
