To be honest, there are just too many lawsuits and counter-lawsuits filed in the Disney vs. Florida case instigated by Ron DeSantis. But outside of the courts, Disney is winning.
If you are reading this you probably side with Disney in this case and if you don't, why? Not to make this a political charge but it all seems kind of dumb on the part of DeSantis. In reality, the only ones that are being hurt by this are the counties around Walt Disney World that have to pick up all the extra responsibility when Reedy Creek was forced to dissolve.
The lawsuits are going to play out for a while. No way around it unless Ron DeSantis is beaten in the polls and the state drops their cases against Disney and Reedy Creek is returned to the mouse.
Outside of the lawsuits, you don't have to look far to realize that Disney is winning this fight. Simply visit a park. Crowds are nearing capacity and the week leading up to Christmas was sold out at Magic Kingdom.
Think about that for a minute. The Florida governor believed that bad press would doom Mickey and company but so far, people are still flocking to the parks in record numbers as if they could care less...because they honestly couldn't.
2024 will be interesting and many will keep a close eye on park guest numbers but there doesn't seem to be much hindering visits right now. The fact that Disney is planning massive changes to the parks in Orlando is also a thumbing of the nose to DeSantis. They could have easily invested the money somewhere else.
I wouldn't be surprised if at some point DeSantis begins to target the park visitors by setting up toll booths outside of the park on roads leading into the park. Or perhaps by closing roads that would ultimately funnel traffic into a single area causing massive congestion points.
One thing, at least for now, is certain, Disney isn't beating DeSantis as much as guests are saying very loudly, "We don't really care about your politics!"
