Disney World Annual Passholder (AP, for short) magnets are a simple gift to AP holders that has turned into collectible trading. The worst part of the AP magnets is that you have to actually be there to get them and that kind of is a downer for out-of-state holders.
Magnet releases died down during COVID, naturally, and when they returned you needed to actually book a time slot at a Disney Springs store to receive your magnet. Now, the pickup spots have returned to EPCOT where they belong, although I think they should rotate from park to park.
The last iteration of AP magnet was Figment. It is the second time that the purple imagination dragon has been on a magnet. Some AP holders were thrilled while others voiced their opinions that they finally had a magnet they didn't need to run out and get.
In the past, we have seen Tinker Bell, Chip and Dale, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy. We even got a rather short-lived and limited release of Simba from The Lion King. Earlier in 2023, we got the Orange Bird and even Dumbo as well. But what about the future? Who should we see adorn the magnet next?
Winnie the Pooh and Piglet
So far, nothing seems more far-sighted than the exclusion of Winnie the Pooh and his best friend Piglet. In fact, Disney could do an entire series of the Winnie the Pooh characters and they would be an absolute hit.
Skip the characters and offer park magnets instead!
Instead of character magnets which have been around for quite a while, why not issue AP magnets that represent each individual park instead? Disney could roll these out in a series and the pick up locations would coincide with each of the parks as they are released. Makes total sense.
How about some villains? Yes and please!
Disney has felt a need to name areas of their parking lots after some of the villains from their films so why not AP magnets as well? Ursula, the Evil Queen, Malificent, and so on would make for a wonderful change to the cutesy little passes of the past and add a touch of...evil...that we all have in us. Let us be honest with ourselves, some Disney fans are simply Disney villains at heart! In a good way of course!
A Disney Princess series of AP magnets makes way too much sense!
Believe it or not, there are no Disney princess AP magnets. Not Snow White or Cinderella, not Ariel or Jasmine. None. Yet Disney's hype surrounds the Princesses of Disney World. There are rides in their names, and even a castle that is the go-to image that is conjured when you think Disney. So why no magnet? Did we really need another Mickey or Minnie or a Figment? Nope.
An annual magnet that represents the year it is issued!
How long have you been an AP holder? Four, five, maybe six years or more? Did you maintain your AP through COVID? Prove it with a magnet? For all Disney does with magnets why not have a magnet that you receive each year you renew your pass...with the year on it? There is no reason why we shouldn't see "Annual Passholder - 2023" magnets. Something you can collect year-to-year as a way to remind yourself just how much you enjoy being an AP.
