Disney's animated classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is coming to 4K UHD Blu-Ray

While Disney is facing all sorts of backlash for its upcoming live-action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the company has announced plans to release a special restored and remastered 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray version of the animated classic.

The 4K UHD release is part of Walt Disney Studios' continued major restoration programming, as well as Disney's 100th anniversary celebration. Earlier this year, Disney released a 4K UHD version of Cinderella.

The 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release comes at a time when Disney is facing all sorts of negative backlash for its upcoming live-action remake of Snow White. Although the 1937 animated musical was groundbreaking at the time of its release, there are certain elements in the movie that are deemed problematic by today's standards. Naturally, this has upset many who are fans of the original and view these changes as unnecessary.

I won't even get into the issues some people have with the casting of Rachel Zegler as the titular character or the controversy with replacing the dwarfs with bandits.

The good news is if you're upset with all of the changes being made to Snow White in the live-action movie, you can soon own the animated classic in glorious 4K Ultra HD. It's set for release on October 10, 2023.

The new Disney100 edition will come in a special collectible O-sleeve. There will also be retailer-exclusive versions, such as Best Buy offering a special Steelbook and Walmart offering a Disney1-- edition slipcover along with a Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs collectible pin.

Meanwhile, Disney's live-action Snow White live-action movie is scheduled to hit theaters on March 22, 2024. However, there are rumors that the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes could cause it to get delayed to later in the year. Perhaps that'll give some of the rowdy folks a chance to calm down.
