Disney's Blizzard Beach doesn't quite hit the same as this other area waterpark

Blizzard Beach is one of two waterparks at Disney World in Orlando and a recent visit shocked me.

After years of visiting Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, our family decided to go with a cheaper option, Sea World's waterpark, Aquatica. The passes were free at the time if you had an annual pass to SeaWorld. So it made sense.

This year, we opted to re-up and go back to the Disney waterparks. This week, we visited Blizzard Beach because Typhoon Lagoon is currently closed. So which park reigns supreme?

It isn't as easy as comparing apples to apples or even apples to oranges. They are two distinctly different parks. Still, I couldn't help but think of Aquatica while I was walking around Blizzard. Surprisingly, we decided to leave Blizzard 2 hours before their 5:00 close. Something we never did at Aquatica.

The apple comparisons.

Obviously, going to a waterpark involves water attractions. That means slides, lazy rivers, wave pools, and more. Let's start here.

I was surprised to learn that Aquatica only boasts one more slide/ride than Blizzard Beach. I would have thought it be a lot more. At Aquatica, the attractions surround the park with a big wave pool in the middle.

At Blizzard Beach, the attractions are located in one area facing the wave pool. They are broken up into three different sections. Green, Purple, and Red Slopes. This is actually quite inconvenient despite the fact they are grouped with three attractions in each section but only one in the red section.

What makes this not so fun is that while you can take a ski lift to the top and thus avoid walking endless stairs, finding the attractions is not very easy. More on that shortly.

Are the attractions at Disney's Blizzard better than Aquatica? No. Let me tell you why next.
