Imagine a scenario where running was always relegated to the realm of "only if being chased by zombies" and even then it was not a plan that could be fully committed to. That was me, a devoted Disney aficionado, contentedly savoring the enchantment of the Happiest Place on Earth without giving running a second thought. Yet, the allure of a runDisney race proved to be an enchanting siren song I couldn't ignore. Here, I'll share the top five reasons why a non-runner like myself was lured into the world of runDisney races.

5. Health Benefits: Transforming into a happier, healthier self

One big benefit of no longer being in a high school gym class, for me anyways, is no one is forcing me to run anywhere. The closest thing to running I do these days is "racing through the crowds" when I'm trying to make my next lighting lane time, and with a stroller in tow, I think this definitely counts as a cardio workout. Running was like a hidden Mickey I never cared to uncover. The idea of donning running shoes and pounding the pavement was far from appealing.

However, the prospect of embarking on a runDisney race offered a chance to rewrite my narrative. The enticing promise of improved cardiovascular health and increased endurance became undeniable motivators. Now, I won't pretend that this was the driving force behind my signing up for Marathon Weekend, it is clearly the lowest on my list, but the health benefits of training for the races are definitely a reason I entered.
