Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is one of Disney World's most impressive attractions and the Imagineers should be applauded. But what is up with the building?
You can see Cosmic Rewind from the parking lot. You can see it driving past EPCOT almost as prominent as Spaceship Earth. Unlike the big EPCOT ball, however, the big blue building is a big blue bore!
The facade of the attraction, as seen in our primary image, is fantastic. The Xandarian ship, the slanted roof, and even the side of the building offer an enticing entry. Once inside, you will be hard-pressed to find a better and more entertaining stand-by lane in any Disney theme park.
Yet, that blue building is a massive eye-sore.
In the image above, from Bioresconstruct, shows an overhead view of this part of EPCOT. The big massive blue building in the back houses the actual ride.
I suppose my biggest question is why is it so non-descript? Could they not put a big Guardians of the Galaxy image on the viewable side that can be seen from the Skyliners as you head to the resorts or Hollywood Studios? Maybe one that could be seen from the road outside of EPCOT?
Instead, it's a blue blob. Disney has done this before as well. They like to be fully immersive with many of their attractions. At Hollywood Studios, Galaxy's Edge is an attraction in and of itself. It is an immersive world where the cast members can't answer your Star Wars questions because they don't know what Star Wars is. They don't take money, they take "credits".
Yet for all the amazing details put into Galaxy's Edge, driving by on the outside you get to see the back of the spires where the incomplete finishes leave a metal naked structure. It takes away from some of the allure.
The same with the big blue Cosmic Rewind building. It is such a massive eye-sore and does nothing to invite you toward the park. I see the EPCOT "ball" and I immediately want to go to the park. I see the big blue building and wonder why it is so ugly.
