Every Marvel show coming to Disney+ in 2024
With concerns over superhero fatigue, Disney CEO Bob Iger has stated that Disney plans to slow down its production of Marvel movies and television series. When looking at the slate of upcoming Marvel movies, Marvel Studios is releasing just one film in theaters next year, Deadpool 3.
That's a third of the number of movies Marvel Studios pumped into theaters in 2023: Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxies Vol. 3 and The Marvels.
But what can we expect from Marvel Studios in terms of television series? As we look ahead to 2024, there are multiple Marvel TV series slated to arrive on Disney+ throughout the year. Let's take a look at what's on the schedule!
Echo
Kicking things off in January 2024 is Echo. This five-episode mini-series is an origin story for Maya Lopez, aka Echo, the deaf but incredibly dangerous martial artist we first met in the Hawkeye series.
As detailed in the synopsis, "Echo revisits Maya Lopez, whose ruthless behavior in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward."
Echo will premiere on Disney+ on January 9, 2024.
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries
A spin-off of and a sequel to WandaVision, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries — originally announced as Agatha: House of Harkness and then renamed to Agatha: Coven of Chaos before eventually becoming Agatha: Darkhold Diaries — follows the character of Agatha Harkness after finally breaking free of a spell she has been trapped in.
Marvel hasn't released an official synopsis yet, but the U.S. Copyright Office Public Records System does have a description.
"Marvel Studios presents "Agatha" ? In the first episode we see Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) finally break out of a spell she has been trapped in. She can't wait to go back to her old murderous ways?only to find that she is powerless. The only way forward for her is to embark on a perilous quest to get her powers back with the help of an unlikely friend or two."
A sneak peek at Agatha: Darkhold Diaries was featured on the Blu-ray release of WandaVision recently.
Agatha: Darkhold Diaries is set to arrive on Disney+ in Fall 2024.
X-Men '97
X-Men '97 a spiritual and tonal continuation of the classic 1990s animated series, X-Men: The Animated Series. It will serve as a direct sequel to the original series and will see the return of original voice cast members Lenore Zann as Rogue, Cal Dodd as Wolverine, Catherine Disher as Jean Grey, George Buza as Beast, Chris Potter as Gambit, Adrian Hough as Nightcrawler, Alison Sealy-Smith as Storm, Christopher Britton as Mister Sinister, and Alyson Court as Jubilee.
There's no release date for X-Men '97 yet, but it is expected to debut sometime in 2024.
Eyes of Wakanda
A surprise announcement made during a promotional event for the What If...? animated series, Eyes of Wakanda is an animated spin-off series that tells the story of the brave warriors throughout Wakandan history. Eyes of Wakanda is expected to release in 2024.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man
Originally titled Spider-Man: Freshman Year, this stylish animated series is set to premiere in 2024. Written by executive producer Jeff Trammel, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will follow the early adventures of Peter Parker as he becomes the character we've grown to know in the MCU. The series celebrates the character's early comic book roots and features a unique animated art style.
It's reported that Tom Holland is not voicing Peter Parker, but the series will feature other voice actors from the MCU, including Charlie Cox as Daredevil. Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is slated to debut in late 2024.
While we may only be getting one feature film in theaters from Marvel Studios in 2024, its clear there are still lots of projects on the way. A total of five series coming to Disney+ in 2024 should keep fans satiated without getting burnt out.
