Disney has finally announced when Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is coming to Disney+, and it's soon! Prior to today's announcement, many estimated that the latest Guardians film would arrive on the streaming service sometime in early August. Disney confirmed today that the third film in the trilogy will start streaming on August 2nd.

if you aren't a Disney+ subscriber, you can actually still watch the movie as it's been available to buy on Digital sicne July 7. If you're the type who prefers a physical copy, it releases on DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD on August 1.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hit theaters on May 5, 2023. To see it arrive on Disney+ just three months after theaters may feel quick, but that seems to be Disney's new norm following the pandemic. Of course, by now, the film has pretty much made all it would at the box office so there's really no downside to releasing it now.

GOTG Vol. 3 ends its theatrical run with $843.2 million worldwide, which is just shy of what the second movie earned. It's currently the second highest-grossing movie of 2023, behind only The Super Mario Bros. Movie. So all in all, it really wasn't a bad run for the blockbuster film.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 released before we even existed as a website — yes, we are that new — so we didn't write a review for the movie. However, it does sit at 82% on Rotten Tomatoes with an even more impressive 94% audience score.

Without getting into spoiler territory, it was unclear what would happen to the ragtag group of galactic misfits heading into Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but at the very least we knew it would be the last time James Gunn would be directing a movie in the franchise. Serving as the acclaimed director's swan song, it has all the weirdness one would expect to see from a Gunn-directed movie. Gunn is now heading up DC's new cinematic universe while Star-Lord, well, I won't spoil anything.
