The Marvel Cinematic Universe is in a bit of turmoil right now as Marvel Studios and Disney are still trying to navigate a post-COVID world in which superhero fatigue may really have started to set in.

Bloated movie budgets and lackluster box office results plus an overindulgence of Marvel series thanks to Disney+ have resulted in a mess of a universe. Let's also not ignore the fact that Disney completely had to change gears thanks to the legal issues with Jonathan Majors, who was supposed to be the main bad guy in the next couple of movies.

I don't really know what's going on with Marvel at this point, and it seems like neither do those involved with the studios' projects.

With Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire hitting theaters, Rudd, who was doing the press rounds, was asked about the possibility of another Ant-Man movie. His response may not spark much confidence or hope.

" "I have no idea. I don't know. Yeah, that's not for me to answer, you'd have to go to Kevin Feige and those guys, I guess.""

Paul Rudd

Now on one hand, he could be lying. We all know how tight-lipped Marvel actors have to be about upcoming projects they are working on.

On the other, it's entirely possible that Rudd hasn't heard about plans for Ant-Man 4.

The Ant-Man trilogy has been mostly successful for Disney. The first film scored well with critics and grossed $519.3 million worldwide (an estimated profit of $103.9M when accounting for production budgets, marketing and other costs.Ant-Man and the Wasp totaled $622.7 million worldwide which also netted around $100M profit.

But things took a turn with 2023 Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The third film in the trilogy was released last year and received mixed reviews from critics and fans alike. Despite grossing $476 million worldwide, it was deemed a box office disappointment as it was one of the few MCU films to not break even in its theatrical run.

Has Ant-Man's luster worn off? With Disney looking to cut production costs and reign in Marvel, it's possible that Scott Lang could simply be relegated to a supporting character in a future team-up. Or maybe Cassie Lang takes over the reigns as we head toward the Young Avengers.
