Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes: Everything you need to know about the home release
By Brian Miller
Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes will hit the shelves and digital streaming platforms soon as the film transitions from the big screen to the after-theater market of home video viewing. With a run time of 2 hours and 25 minutes, families will be able to enjoy the film on their own schedule.
Fans of the series won't have to wait long as the film will hit digital platforms from Apple TV+ to Fandango at Home on July 9th. The price point typically runs about $24.00 for the early releases. It will arrive on Blue Ray and other physical platforms on August 27th.
The film is set 300 years after the previous films that told the story of the ape uprising under Caesar. Now, the latest film follows Noa, an ape who, along with a human named Mae, will work towards a future that sees both of them able to coexist.
The home video release will include several special features including a full length feature called, "Inside the Lens: The Raw Cut." This version will present the viewer with a split-screen viewing of both film versions.
Directed by Wes Ball, the film is part of the 20th Century Studios umbrella. In addition to the physical standalone release, a 10-film box set will also be available that will carry a $100.00 price tag for those fans wanting a deeper experience and owning many of the films. The disc includes 14 deleted or extended scenes as well as other special features.
The new film kicks off what is expected to be another trilogy. There is no word on when it will arrive on Disney+
