Marvel's Spider-Man 2: Glowing reviews for Sony's superhero blockbuster sequel

There have been dozens of Spider-Man games released in the past, but 2018's action-adventure from Insomniac Games raised the bar with what we could do as the iconic web-slinger. Though inspired by the comics, 2018's game told an original narrative that saw us play as Peter Parker and, at one point, even Miles Morales.

Marvel's Spider-Man was a massive hit and is considered one of the best superhero games of all time. A few years later, a spin-off was released alongside the launch of the PlayStation 5. The spin-off, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales focused on, as the name suggests, Miles. Though equally as entertaining, it didn't quite feel as robust as the original game. It felt more like an expansion to the original game.

But now, we finally have a full-fledged sequel. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is set to arrive on Friday, October 20. It's one of this year's most anticipated games and if you own a PlayStation 5, odds are this is a must-play for you.

Reviews for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 hit the web earlier this week and, once again, it looks like Insomniac has delivered another blockbuster hit.

With 129 reviews counted so far, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 sits at a 90 Metascore on the review aggregator website Metacritic. It's currently deemed a "must-play."

It doesn't sound like Marvel's Spider-Man 2 introduces much in terms of new gameplay mechanics, but it does deliver another bold and emotional story. This time around, you'll play as both Peter Parker and Miles Morales as they face their toughest foe yet in Venom.

Like any good superhero blockbuster, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is said to deliver action-packed moments across incredible set pieces as you battle a variety of new and iconic villains, including Kraven the Hunter, Lizard and more.
