A new and quite exciting attraction may be coming to a Disney park in the future that may have a tie-in with Moana. According to a new report, Disney has applied for a patent on a new water related system that could bring the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind to a water themed attraction.
According to BlogMickey.com, Disney is looking to change the one-dimensional approach to their water attractions. As it stands now, rides like Tianas' Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom and the Frozen ride at EPCOT use single, forward facing "boats" that give the riders an ability to focus their attention forward but in their news release, BM has shown the patent specs that could allow for the ride to be similar to Cosmic Rewind.
Rewind's tech allows the cars to swivel as the coaster moves through the storytelling of the attraction. It is the first of its kind at Disney. It gives the rider a 360-degree feel and actually improves the fluidity of the coaster itself. The ability to rotate on the coaster has been one of the biggest crowd-pleasers.
While Moana may not end up being an attraction that utilizes the new advancement it could be a good starting point for Disney given they popularity of the film. Disney has pledged upwards of $17 billion over the next 20 years being put into Disney World and this would make an interesting addition if it comes to a reality.
The specs that BlogMickey has shown give a clear and precise idea of what Disney is hoping to bring with their next-generation tech. The only question is how soon will guests be able to experience it?
