It seems that Magic Kingdom isn't the only park that villains have taken a liking too. They've also got their sights set on Hollywood Studios.

As announced on the Disney Parks Blog this week, Disney's Hollywood Studios will be adding a new Disney Villains show. Details are light at the moment, but it's described as an "all-new live production starring your favorite Disney Villains."

""The show will feature appearances by dozens of the most infamous evildoers, with fiendish foes Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent each breaking through the glass to take the stage in live production numbers.""

The show is scheduled to debut next summer (2025) and will be hosted at the Sunset Showcase, which is currently home to Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy.

Unfortunately, this means Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy will be closing, and rather soon too. Disney has set a closing date for October 7th, which means you've got about a month to catch the show.

I have to admit, this was a bit of an unexpected announcement, especially so soon after all the major D23 reveals. A Villains-themed show opening at Hollywood Studios comes just a few weeks after Disney revealed a massive expansion planned for Magic Kingdom that will see the introduction of an all-new Villains Land.

And while we are saying goodbye to Cars at Hollywood Studios, the franchise will also be moving to Magic Kingdom as well. Also revealed at D23, Disney is planning an expansion at Frontierland themed around the beloved Pixar Animation Studios franchise. Perhaps Disney will be using some of the animatronics of Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy for the newly planned expansion.

While some may be sad to see Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy go, I think this is a great move — especially in light of all the excitement surrounding the Villains Land at Magic Kingdom. It's clear that Disney fans love the company's gallery of villains and can't get enough of them.
