This week, it was announced that four of Disney+ series will be getting the 4K UHD and Blu-ray release. Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Moon Knight are all getting the Collector's Edition treatment.

Normally, this sort of announcement would be met with excitement, but for Star Wars fans, it was bittersweet as it seemingly confirmed the end of the Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 hope.

In the press release, Andor, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Moon Knight were all referred to as "The Complete First Season." Obi-Wan, however, was listed as "The Complete Series," suggesting that the series is, in fact, complete and we won't be getting a second season.

While the news is unfortunate, it's hardly unexpected. Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has been pretty upfront about Obi-Wan Kenobi existing as a limited series.

"That is not an active development," Kennedy told Variety back in 2023. “But I never say never, because there’s always the possibility."

While we may not be getting a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi, it's possible that the beloved Jedi could return in another series, or possibly a movie.

McGregor, on the other hand, has been lobbying for a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi. During a recent appearance at MegaCon Orlando, the actor urged fans to write to Disney.

At this point, if the show's success couldn't convince Disney and Lucasfilm to greenlight a second season, it's unlikely that fan letters will do the trick — especially now that it's being referred to as "The Complete Series."

Although we may never get a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi, there are still plenty of exciting Star Wars projects currently in development right now. Jon Favreau is directing The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, and we've got confirmation of Ahsoka: Season 2 and Andor: Season 2.
