Just when folks thought they were safe from Disney remakes, now comes rumors that they may reboot true Pixar classics like Finding Nemo and The Incredibles. To say this is a bad idea is an understatement!

Disney has had a rough go at the box office with too many flops and letdowns. The 2023 Hollywood strikes had an effect but it's also Disney going too far with huge budgets and anything from the MCU to Wish sagging or outright bombing.

One saving grace was what used to be the main cash draw for Disney: Pixar. Elemental had a bad opening but found legs with audiences to become a sleeper success. That's a much-needed boost for the animation division which was one of the most brutal victims of the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic.

Once, Pixar dominated at the box office thanks to its wonderful style and amazing storytelling, earning Oscar and box office success along the way. The wheels came off with Onward, released just as the pandemic hit in 2020, and thus, did not get the box office it deserved.

Disney releasing Soul on Disney+ made some sense, given that theaters were closed then. What didn't make sense was banishing Luca and Turning Red to Disney+, both of which ended up becoming critical hits. Meanwhile, Lightyear was released in theaters only to become Pixar's biggest flop.

It's been rough for the company with 14% of its staff laid off amid Disney curtailing budgets and restructuring their movies. They're thus hoping the upcoming Inside Out 2 revives their fortunes. However, those hoping this means Pixar returns to quality original works may be out of luck.
