Pixar's possible reboot plans show how far the brand has sadly fallen

With rumors of Pixar perhaps rebooting stuff like Finding Nemo, it's a sad sign of the decline of this one-time fantastic brand.

Pixar's franchise-heavy future

In a talk with Bloomberg, Pixar President Jim Morris said that the good news is they're not planning to send any films right to Disney+ but to theaters. He added he hopes they release three movies every two years.

"I hope that we will not release another feature film on Disney+. If we do more stuff for Disney+, it should be a series, and then that makes a clean demarcation between what we do for theaters and what we do for streaming.""

 However, he added that the plan is "with every other title a sequel or spinoff and the rest standalone concepts or potential seeds for new franchise."

Pixar creative President Pete Doctor hinted that this could include reboots of films like Finding Nemo, still one of Pixar's biggest-ever successes. 

"Where else have we not gone in the ocean? The ocean's a big place. I think there's a lot of opportunity there. We're kind of fishing around — ha-ha."

The Incredibles was also mentioned as a possible reboot source, and plans for sequels to Toy Story were in the works as well. In other words, Pixar is gambling on using its past glories for the future, which is bad news for fans.
