How to ride Tron: Lightcycle Run and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind twice in one day
By Brian Miller
Want to ride Tron: Light Cycle Run more than once? Well, there is a way despite the parks telling you there isn't. This trick goes equally for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind but while it is an easy workaround, you can't do it on your own unless you can con someone else into giving you their ticket.
In my family, there are six of us. We are all annual passholders. My youngest is 4 years old and while he can't ride Tron, he was able to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, which quickly has become his favorite ride in any park, Disney or other.
When we joined the virtual queue, all of our group was added to the queue. In this case, my 4-year old and my wife were also given queue slots with the rest of us. My riding party actually consisted of myself and my three other kids while my wife and 4 year old sat Tron out.
Had I wanted to, I could have disembarked the ride and re-entered the line as my queue hour wasn't up yet. In this case, I would have used either my wife's or my son's card to re-enter the ride. I know this works because I forgot to add my older son's girlfriend and she used my wife's pass to ride it. They don't photo-ID riders.
The caveat here is that you can't mess around. You need to get off the ride and get back in line as virtual groups are time-sensitive. You might get away with being five minutes late but if the ride wait time exceeds an hour or more than that, you probably won't get back on. If it is a little past, tell the cast member that you were ride switching and they will normally let you on.
Overall the easiest way is to be patient with your time. Know that there will be a very good chance your group will be called later in the day and adjust the rest of your day accordingly. If you have plans to park hop, you probably will need to nix that unless you get into a first round of virtual queue assignements at 6:30 or at 7:00 am as those will typically place you on the ride before three.
The 1:00 slots are the easiest to get but you will not be able to jump to another park unless your queue is later in the evening. As an example, we got a grouping for Cosmic Rewind during the 1:00 opening. That group time estimated ride entry to be around 8:00 pm. We opted to jump over to Hollywood Studios on the gondalas and rode a couple of rides there and then made it back to Epcot in time for our slot.
Keep this in mind. You only need to be in the park to join a virtual queue at 1:00 then you can leave and come back, provided you can make it.
Another way to ride one of these two rides twice is to follow the above suggestion but when you arrive at the park, buy the Lightning Lane option through the Disney phone app or at guest services. This is an easy way to get on the ride and you will be able to ride one of the two, once through the LL system. This will not delete your virtual queue and voila, you get to ride it a second time...provided of course you don't set your Lightning Lane time to the same time slot as your virtual queue slot.
