Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection Launch Trailer Is brimming with nostalgic action
Despite EA having released two modern versions of Star Wars: Battlefront, they couldn't quite live up to the fun of the originals. Well this week, both of the original Star Wars Battlefront games are returning through the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection.
2004's Star Wars Battlefront and 2005's Star Wars Battlefront II will be playable on modern consoles — PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC — this week. Ahead of their release, we've now got the launch trailer to drum up even more hype.
"Play in iconic battles across the Star Wars galaxy!" the trailer teases. "Fight, drive and pilot your way through unforgettable Star Wars moments."
The trailer is brimming with nostalgia. It takes me back to my high school days, sitting with friends and blasting our way through the galaxy.
I'm hoping this feeling of excitement actually translates to the gameplay. Sometimes we view these classic games with rose-colored glasses and then when we actually play them, they don't quite live up to how we remember them. Or they've just aged.
In this case, Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection looks like a darn good time. Not only are we getting both games, but all of their bonus content, including Jabba's Palace for Battlefront, and four bonus maps — Bespin: Cloud City, Rhen Var: Harbor, Rhen Var: Citadel, and Yavin 4: Arena — for Battlefront II.
In total, there are now 17 total maps for Battlefront Classic. Battlefront II now features 22 ground maps, 6 space maps and 9 more space maps exclusive to the single-player campaign and galactic conquest.
Perhaps more excitingly, the games support up to 64 players online multiplayer with cross-gen capability. From Conquest to Capture the Flag, to Hero Assault, all of the fun and exciting modes return.
For those really looking for that old-school feel, offline 2-player splitscreen is included.
Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection releases on March 14. It will be available for $34.99.
