The Dark Falcon, featuring Darth Jar Jar, may be the best Star Wars LEGO Set yet
Earlier this year, The LEGO Group and Lucasfilm celebrated 25 years of the LEGO Star Wars collaboration. In that time, we've seen some pretty amazing collaborations come to life in the form of brick LEGO sets.
But this week, we may have seen the best LEGO Star Wars set yet.
Introducing The Dark Falcon
We've heard rumors of a set inspired by The Dark Falcon for a while, but now it's official. The Dark Falcon is a bold, new take on the iconic Millennium Falcon inspired by the upcoming Disney+ series LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy.
The Dark Falcon features a Sith-inspired color scheme and a radar dish that now looks like a Death Star-like weapon. The ship itself has flip-up panels that reveal a detailed interior that includes Darth Jar Jar's throne, the command center, hyperdrive, entertainment area, and jail cell.
The set also includes six LEGO Star Wars minifigures, also with a fun and unique twist. The highlight is undoubtedly Darth Jar Jar, a long-running joke within the Star Wars fandom that has finally come to life thanks to the aforementioned series LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy.
Darth Jar Jar is the product of a fan-driven conspiracy theory that belives the clumsy, well-meaning Gungan outcast is actually far more sinister than presented. There's an entire subreddit that analyzes the "consistently shady and ambiguous nature" of Jar Jar.
It's all a joke (I think), but that joke has now become a reality thanks to LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy. The LEGO minifigure reimagines Jar Jar as a sith, similar to Darth Maul, equipped with a double-sided lightsaber.
Other minifigures included in the set are mixed up and reimagined versions of the popular characters: Bounty Hunter C-3PO, Darth Dev, Darth Rey, Beach Luke and Jedi Vader. There's even a blue milk carton accessory.
LEGO Star Wars: The Dark Falcon price and release
The Dark Falcon LEGO 1,500-plus build and collectible nature of LEGO Star Wars sets in general are all reflected in the set's $179.99 price tag. The Dark Falcon is set to release on August 1, 2024; however, pre-orders for the set are already available. Check out The Dark Falcon product page here.
LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy coming to Disney+ in September
Meanwhile, LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, the new animated special inspiring this new Dark Falcon set, will premiere on Disney+ this September. The four-piece animated special reimagines the Star Wars galaxy like ever before.
""In LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, the entire Star Wars galaxy gets completely mixed up when an ordinary nerf-herder, Sig Greebling (Gaten Matarazzo), unearths a powerful artifact called the Cornerstone from a hidden Jedi temple. He finds himself thrust into adventure in a new, wondrously wild and twisted version of the galaxy where good guys are bad, bad guys are good, and the fate of all depends on Sig becoming the hero who can put all the pieces back together. ""
You'll also notice that the special teases another cool twist: X-Wing Tie Fighters. This combination is also reflected in a brand new LEGO set: Tie Fighter & X-Wing Mash-up. Also arriving in August 1st, the TIE Fighter & X-Wing Mash-up LEGO set costs $109.99.
