Disney is returning to one of its most beloved characters and locations. Moana 2 will hit theaters in November and we finally have our first look at the new animated feature sequel.

The first teaser gives us a great look at what we can expect from the sequel without giving too much detail. After switching shells for a small crab, the teaser opens with Moana on a beach. From there, we are taken back to the incredible visuals of the South Pacific.

Of course, the teaser wouldn't be complete without an appearance from Maui. Played by Dwayne Johnson, Maui will again provide his demi-God sense of humor to the film, but he may have had his "Shiny" moment taken by the little rooster, Hei Hei, who steals the teaser and leaves fans begging for more.

The film will see the return of the major cast members from the first film. Moana 2 is directed and written by David G. Derrick, Jr. This will be his first feature film. Auli'i Cravalho will once again voice Moana. The film was originally intended to be a Disney Plus animated series but after the series was laid out, Disney loved the presentation and visuals and opted for a featured film instead.

Many wonder if Disney rushed the film, given the announcement of the sequel and the release date of November 27th, 2024. Considering the animation was already in process as a series, much of the work was already complete.

The premise is simply "Moana receives a call from her "wayfinding" ancestors and journeys to the far seas of Oceania."
