The key dates for the Disney World Skyliner maintenance downtime
By Brian Miller
If it has paint on it, mechanical components, electrical properties, or moves, at some point Disney World will need to fix it. The Skyliner is no different.
Disney announced last month that the Skyliner would be down for scheduled maintenance and that time has now come.
The Skyliner runs from EPCOT to the Disney Caribbean Beach Resorts, Pop Century Resort, and Disney's Art of Animation Resort. It also will run from the resorts to Hollywood Studio. The free-to-ride Skyliner connects EPCOT and Hollywood Studios as a fun alternative to driving, taking the boat, or a bus.
On January 16th, Disney shut down the Skyliner's routes between the resorts, EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios. Disney has stated that the line between the resorts and Hollywood Studios would open around January 21st.
The line between the resorts, including the Riviera Resort will remaing closed until January 27th that line also includes EPCOT as well.
It isn't ideal for first-time guests who have not been able to enjoy the ride from park to park because it is one of the more enjoyable rides at Disney World. In fact, many fans want to know why the parks opted to not carry the Skyliner another few miles to connect Animal Kingdom. It could have been easily added to the parking area and avoided any animal issues.
For those hoping to avoid driving or taking a bus from EPCOT to Hollywood or vice versa can take the boat that is located outside International Gateway in the back behind the U.K. Pavilion. That boat will drop guests off at the front of Hollywood Studios.
