This week, Disney Marvel released a new trailer for this fall’s big team-up film The Marvels! Find out more about this new adventure that finally unites three big MCU heroines!

The saga of Captain Marvel began in the 2019 film of the same name. Brie Larson played Carol Danvers, an Air Force pilot in the 1990s who was exposed to cosmic energies giving her powers of flight, super-strength, energy blasts and more. She worked with Nick Fury to save Earth from an invasion of the Kree empire, aided by friends Maria Rambeau and her daughter, Monica.

The film ended with Carol heading into space to aid the Skrull race. She returned to Avengers: Endgame, her powers keeping her looking younger, to help fight off Thanos.

The WandaVision series showed that a now-grown Monica, played by Teyonah Parris, was working for the organization SABER. Having lost her mother to cancer while she was “Blipped” by Thanos, Monica and Carol had a tense relationship. During the show, Monica was exposed to energies that gave her powers to control light and flight.

The final step was the Ms. Marvel series with Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, a New Jersey teenager and self-professed Captain Marvel super-fan. A combination of a mystical bracelet and mutant genes gave Kamala powers to control solid light constructs and took on a heroic identity.

The final scene of the series had a blast of energy, causing Kamala to swap places with Carol. That leads right into The Marvels as the trio must unite.

What is The Marvels about?

The trailer shows that somehow, Carol, Monica, and Kamala’s powers have become linked together and causing them to swap places when they use them. This is a major problem as Earth is about to come under attack by a renegade soldier out to crush Carol.

The trio has to overcome their differences, from Carol and Monica’s tension to Kamala’s fangirling and inexperience. Yet it looks to have some terrific action and thrills to pull fans in.

Carol Danvers, AKA Captain Marvel, has reclaimed her identity from the tyrannical Kree and taken revenge on the Supreme Intelligence. But unintended consequences see Carol shouldering the burden of a destabilized universe. When her duties send her to an anomalous wormhole linked to a Kree revolutionary, her powers become entangled with that of Jersey City super-fan Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, and Carol’s estranged niece, now S.A.B.E.R. astronaut Captain Monica Rambeau.
