The stunt show explosion

As the Stunt Spectacular proved, audiences would be interested in checking out some sort of terrific action-oriented spectacle and it wasn’t long before theme parks joined in. Universal put their own spin on it with Terminator 2: Battle Across Time, a fantastic mix of live-action and movie FX with Arnold Schwarzenegger in his iconic role.

Also, when Islands of Adventure opened, Universal threw in a Sinbad stunt show with a lot of stunts inspired by Indy along with the fantasy setting. That also included an Orlando Studios water show.

Six Flags got into the act, too, with a few parks like Great America featuring their versions of Wild West shows (it seemed like a popular motif). Other Six Flags parks used Warner Bros properties like Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, but in the early 1990s, practically every one of them changed to a version of a Batman show inspired by the blockbuster movies.

Disney did have an idea for a Young Indiana Jones show in Disneyland inspired by the ABC series, but that never came off. Disney Studios Park in Paris did introduce the Lights, Motors, Action! Show, which was later brought to Florida. It was a fun show with the cars doing wild stunts before a crowd before it was eliminated to make way for Galaxy’s Edge.

As it happens, the timing is intriguing given how stunt shows themselves seemed on a downslide.
