Virtual Queue System — The afternoon window

As frustrating as the virtual queue system may be at first, it's actually a really great system once you get the hang of i. I actually wish many other rides had this option.

As I said before, I missed my first attempt to reserve a queue group for Tron Lightcycle Run, but thankfully, you do get a second chance at it. Disney opens up a second virtual queue window in the afternoon.

The afternoon queue window opens at 1:00 pm but it comes with two small caveats: first, it is only available to guests who were not already in the earlier queue, and two, you have to physically be in the Magic Kingdom park to join the queue. These two little requirements actually make it so the afternoon virtual queue is much easier to join.

Follow the same process you did in the morning and keep your fingers crossed. If you hit refresh immediately at 1:00 p.m., you shouldn't have a problem getting a group number. In all four of my attempts during my last visit, I landed either Tron Lightcycle Run or Cosmic Rewind. My visit in March landed three of three attempts for Cosmic Rewind using the 1:00 slot opening. Tron wasn't open yet.

If there is a downside, the 1:00 pm option will typically put you in a queue that starts boarding around 7:00 p.m. at the earliest or later. For Tron, though, this could be a benefit as the initial launch sequence into the night sky could be a breathtaking view.
