Fans finally know when they can enjoy one of Star Wars’ most notable animated characters in live-action. Disney+ has confirmed the premiere date for Ahsoka, which brings not just one but several beloved characters to life.

Debuting in 2008’s The Clone Wars animated movie, Ahsoka Tano was the secret padawan for Anakin Skywalker. Although a teenager, she quickly proved herself as a Jedi and looked to be on her way to becoming a Knight when she was framed for treason. While Anakin cleared her name, Ahsoka was shaken by the experience to quit the Order.

The final Clone Wars episodes had Ahsoka capturing Darth Maul but was forced to go on the run when Order 66 turned the clone troopers against the Jedi. The Rebels animated series revealed an adult Ahsoka had survived and became part of the Rebellion. That included a showdown with Darth Vader.

Season 2 of The Mandalorian had Ahsoka step into live-action, played by Rosario Dawson. Now, she takes center stage in a new live-action series.

When does Ahsoka premiere?

Ahsoka will premiere on Wednesday, August 23 on Disney+. The eight-episode series is expected to have its first two episodes premiere that day and then release new ones every week.

Besides Dawson, the cast includes several popular Rebels characters: Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), Twi’lek pilot Hera Syndulla (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), and aspiring Jedi Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi).

Biggest of all is that at last, long popular Star Wars villain Grand Admiral Thrawn will come to live action, played by Lars Mikkelsen, who voiced the character in Rebels

Also, Genevive O’Reilly reprises her role as Mon Mothma, leader of the New Republic. And, in one of his final roles before his untimely passing, Ray Stevenson is Baylan Skoll, a former Jedi who now aids Thrawn. On top of all that, Hayden Christensen will make some sort of cameo, although it’s unsure how or if he plays Anakin or Vader.

With a release date set, fans are more than eager to finally see so many animated characters in live-action, which makes Ahsoka the most anticipated Star Wars show in a while.
