Disney’s track record

True, Disney has had its duds now and then remaking a ride (the 1999 Imagination redo), but overall, their record-changing one-up is good. Fans were upset that the Maelstrom ride in Norway was remade into Frozen Ever After, only for that to become a huge hit. Disney knows full well that altering an attraction as long-lasting and famous as Splash Mountain is a huge deal, so they’ll take care to ensure this new version is something fans will love just as much.

A great blend of technology

While Splash Mountain had decent Audio-Animatronics, it was a bit limited in the special effects. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will have a great mix of 17 brand new AA figures (including multiple looks for Tiana) and talk of brand new animation by Disney animators.

While some are worried it’ll rely on a lot of screens, it sounds more like it’ll mix them together, much like the hit Mickey’s Runaway Railway and the recent redo of Alice in Wonderland in Disneyland. This combination should make for a vibrant experience, much more spectacular than the old Splash Mountain was.

Some surprises can be in store

So far, Disney has said the storyline involves Tiana going on a search for a special ingredient for a meal for an upcoming contest. Yet there are hints there could be surprises in store, including an appearance by the film’s villain Dr. Facilier. Disney can throw in a few other touches to make the ride more exciting, perhaps bits that make each experience different, thus ensuring guests will want to ride it over and over.

Thus, while fans may be saddened to see Splash Mountain join the long list of beloved Disneyland attractions now gone, there’s reason to be excited for its replacement as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure looks to put a new spin on this old favorite and become a classic ride in its own right.
