Timotheé Chalamet eyed for next Disney remake (and it's perfect casting)

From the sands of Arrakis to Willy Wonka's factory, Timotheé Chalamet has had an adventurous career. However, his next role could take him all the way to Sleepy Hollow!

Although he might have missed his chance at Oscar gold this year, Dune's Timothée Chalamet might have a golden opportunity knocking at his door. As he sheds his Bob Dylan attire after A Complete Unknown, Disney is rumored to have his next big role.

The buzz from DanielRPK shared that Chalamet is up for the role of Ichabod Crane in a retelling of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow told from the schoolmaster's point of view. With the actor's long and lanky frame, it's easy to see why he would be cast in such a role, but it also might be more than hearsay.

A ghost of a chance?

Rumors of a new Sleepy Hollow film have been circulating as far back as 2022, but a new version with a massive name like Chalamet's might be the ticket for The Walt Disney Company. After all, the studio technically still has one of the most book-accurate variants on the market.

Walt Disney's The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad brought two fabulous characters to life on the big screen, but it's safe to say that Ichabod's ghostly encounter is much more popular than Mr. Toad's wild ride. It makes sense that Disney would want to revisit this with some new talent.

Disney's original adaptation is remarkably accurate to the original novel, and many of its visuals, dialogue, and even songs pull inspiration almost verbatim from the text by Washington Irving. A reimagining told from Ichabod's point of view only feels too natural at this point in the game, especially when a "remake" already exists with the Tim Burton adaptation.

At the time of writing, this is only pure speculation. However, that doesn't mean it doesn't have legs to stand on. With iconic retellings like Wicked being the name on everyone's lips, a Sleepy Hollow film with an Oscar-nominated actor as popular as Chalamet might be a plum too rich to resist.

In this writer's opinion, Chalamet certainly has the range, but it's his look that absolutely screams Ichabod Crane. With a prosthetic nose and a set of ears, he'd be a dead ringer for the character. All he's truthfully lacking is Bing Crosby's iconic bass voice.

Do you think Chalamet could be the next Ichabod?
