Disney neglects multiple villains in new development

Maleficent, Cruella, Hades, and Hook, are all delightfully wicked, but the guest list is still incomplete.

It's no secret that Disney has created some of the most wicked and wonderful villains in modern fiction. However, as much as we love, hate, and love hating the likes of Maleficent, Ursula, and Jafar, it feels like Disney is neglecting many of its evil icons.

At the parks, characters like Gaston, Captain Hook, and the Ugly Stepsisters can be found semi-regularly, but there's more that Disney could do with an entire expansion dedicated to them. Granted, it would be impossible to bring every last one of our favorite villains to the parks as Meet and Greets, but Disney certainly has the resources to give us more than the bare minimum.

Disney needs more villains

If Villains: Unfairly Ever After is any indication of what Disney can do with the villains as full-fledged characters, it's clear where some improvements can be made. Captain Hook, Jafar, and more look great when given the right costuming and character performers. So much so that it's enough to make this writer wonder, who should get the next character treatment?

It feels like Disney regularly uses the same selection of villains, that being Maleficent, Captain Hook, Cruella De vil, and maybe the Evil Queen and Gaston on occasion. With Magic Kingdom getting a full villains land in the near future, it's time to up the guest list, and these three magically malicious members of Disney's rogues gallery will fit in just fine.

Hades

Hades has been featured as a Meet and Greet character before, but never as true-to-form as he was during Disneyland's Oogie Boogie Bash. While it would certainly take a heck of a Disney cast member to bring the Lord of the Dead to life, the footage above proves it can be done.

Unfortunately, this version of Hades (along with several other iconic Disney villains) could only be met at Disneyland in California. Since the Orlando destination has been living on the original park's scraps for years, it's time for an overdue change. Open the gates of the underworld and let Hades in, Disney!

The Queen of Hearts/Red Queen

Yet another Disneyland exclusive, this variant of the Queen of Hearts is an example of what Disney can do with a major glow-up. While not as intimidating as someone like Maleficent or Hades, an appearance from this ruthless red royal would give the villainous vibes a more comedic flavor at the new expansion.

It should also be noted that Disney doesn't have to rely on the animated version for inspiration. Disney's version of Alice in Wonderland is likely the most well-known, there's also something to be said for the Tim Burton adaptation with its Red Queen. Either way, the Imagineers need to roll out the red carpet.

Scar

If there is one Disney villain that has been in desperate need of a park appearance, it's Scar. As one of the most iconic and infamous villains to come from Disney in the past few decades, he shockingly doesn't have much of a park presence. As Disney Dan points out in the footage above, Disney has certainly tried.

While it might take some heavy Imagineering, Scar could indeed be done. If Epic Universe can make Donkey from Shrek and Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon come to life, a talking lion should be a walk in the park for Disney. Plus, who wouldn't want to get royally roasted by one of Disney's biggest divas? Just watch out for those claws.

Who do you think should come to the Villain's expansion at the Magic Kingdom?
