Disaster struck the Los Angeles area of California just days ago, and thousands still haven't recovered from this apocalyptic event. As many lose their homes and businesses, a recent report showed how the entertainment industry is getting ready to take a major hit unless something is done.
Along with its beaches, mountains, and tourist destinations, California is primarily known as the epicenter of the entertainment world. As many of our favorite celebrities join the countless residents who have lost their homes in the wake of the fires, many other victims include members of the animation community across multiple studios.
California fires incinerate animators, and they need our help!
As reports of the destruction continue to pour in, the entertainment industry buckles. Although the LA area is famous for Hollywood and the continuous outpour of feature films, many are quick to forget that it's also the throne of the animation world as well.
Disney, Warner Bros., Dreamworks, and so on all have studios, offices, and animators living in the area who just had their homes burned away, and many are facing displacement. However, fans and supporters are already uniting to aid dozens invested in our favorite animated projects.
As a studio whose bedrock is built on cartoons, Disney is going to take a major hit, and the studio's future projects might face massive delays. Even with The Walt Disney Company donating over $15 million in relief funding, even miracles take a little time.
A report from Cartoon Brew shared a list of specific artists and animators, many of whom work for Disney, who need aid or assistance. Those wanting to help during this time of trouble and tragedy need only click on the attached links.
What too many people fail to realize is that animated films, despite what Disney would have us believe, don't just happen by wishes and magic. A single film can require hundreds of animators to bring it to life, and they can't do that if they don't have a place to live. Simply put, no animators means no animated movies for us.
One piece of relieving news we can all cling to is that something is indeed being done by those both affected and safe from the LA fires. However, things in Hollywood might be grinding to a stall until the fires eventually burn out. Even then, the repairs needed after the matter will take considerable time.
