Thousands were forced to evacuate Los Angeles this week as wildfires consumed the LA Coast. Sources call the scene "apocalyptic" as the flames burn through the area, destroying acres of land and countless homes.

However, in this time of absolute chaos, The Walt Disney Company stepped out of the smoke to aid those harmed by the disaster. In a recent public statement, the media juggernaut has expressed several plans to help save the city.

The mouse who roared

At the time of writing, The Walt Disney Company committed to donating $15 million for initial response efforts as LA continues to recover from the devastating losses. The official statement shared the following promise just this week.

"We will be supporting vital organizations offering essential services on the ground, including the American Red Cross, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, among others. Additionally, we’ve been working around the clock to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our employees, many of whom have been impacted by these fires, and we intend to provide further resources to our Employee Relief Fund to help those facing hardship as a result of this crisis."

After sharing Walt's connection and the company's dedication to the community of Los Angeles, Disney CEO Bob Iger also shared his sentiments on the matter by stating,

"As this tragedy continues to unfold, The Walt Disney Company is committed to supporting our community and our employees as we all work together to recover and rebuild from this unbelievable devastation..."

With Disneyland and the Walt Disney Studios calling the place home for decades, California has been the source of Disney magic for almost a century. Although many are quick to scoff at any million-dollar enterprise for being a mindless corporation, seeing Disney give so much back to its supporters is truly remarkable.

As the fires continue to leave thousands homeless and scorch through miles of the state's beautiful landscapes and forests, it's refreshing to see a little Disney magic can still go a long way.
