The Marvel Cinematic Universe has one of the biggest selection of heroes in pop culture history. From Iron Man to Deadpool, the Multiverse has no shortage of thrilling and mighty characters.
As the Fantastic Four prepare to make their debut in a brand new feature film, some viewers can't help but wonder. Why did it take this long for a classic comic book film, and will the studio keep the setting in rotation.
Coming soon... Marvels
If you're anything like me, you've consumed more than your fair share of comic books. When it comes to Marvel, one of the best ways to get a sort of sampler platter of all the heroes, villains, and all their adventures would be to read Marvels by Kurt Busiek with artwork by Alex Ross.
Marvels is four-part comic book series with a regular who's who of the Marvel universe. Spider-Man, the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, and many more are all present and accounted for, and all seen through the eyes of an ambitious journalist.
The series poses the question, "What would it be like to live in a world of heroes and villains?" Set across multiple decades, Marvels is essentially a crash course in Marvel comics, and it might be the next Infinity War feature film.
The reason this might be Disney/Marvel's direction lies within the latest trailer for Fantastic Four: First Steps, as the shadow of Galactus towers over a 1960s New York City (a key event in the comics). Since both studios have been chasing that same superhero high since Avengers: Endgame, it might be in the cards.
Before you even think about rolling those eyes, Marvels isn't a Multiverse-wrecking event. It's more of a reunion tour/refresher course for all of our favorite heroes and villains. However, it can't be done without the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man at the center of it. Hence the need to introduce a more comic-accurate alternate universe.
If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a merry Christmas, but the MCU already has a laundry list of heroes on standby. If they can persuade Robert Downey Jr. to step into the metal mask of Doctor Doom, who's to say they can't bring back the Avengers and many, MANY more?
Until that glorious day, True Believers can watch their favorite heroes and villains on Disney+.
