It's a good time for fans of Disney+'s Star Wars shows. Not only is The Mandalorian getting his own big-screen movie, but Lucasfilm has confirmed that Season 2 of Ahsoka is in development and expected to arrive in 2025.

Introduced in 2008's The Clone Wars animated movie, Ahsoka Tano became a prime character in the TV series based on the film. A teenage Togruta, the Jedi Padawan became Anakin Skywalker's apprentice and served with him in the Clone Wars.

When she was framed for a bombing at the Jedi Temple, Ahsoka lost her faith in the Order and walked away. She still fought for the Republic only to barely survive Order 66, which wiped out the Jedi.

The character returned in the Rebels series, now an agent for the Rebellion. In Season 2 of The Mandalorian, Ahsoka appeared, now played by Rosario Dawson. That led to her own spin-off as Ahsoka united with old Rebels teammates to face the evil Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen).

While fans have been hopeful for a second season following this big event, it's been confirmed it's in development with Dave Filoni once more in charge.

What will Season 2 of Ahsoka be about?

Season 1 of the series ended with Ahsoka and Sabine finding the long-lost Ezra. However, a big battle led to the first two stuck on a distant world while Ezra managed to make it to the New Republic and a reunion with wife Hera. Meanwhile, Thrawn was making some plots of his own.

Season 2 may be a take on the classic Star Wars story "Heir to the Empire" as Thrawn takes the battle to the New Republic, joining other Imperial remnants and could play into a crossover with the other Star Wars shows.

Who will star in Season 2 of Ahsoka?

It's likely the majority of the Season 1 cast returns: Dawson, Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Hera), Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Sabine), Eman Esfandi (Ezra), David Tennant (Huyang), Ivanna Sakhno (Shin Hati) and Lars Mikkelsen (Thrawn).

A key question is the character of Baylan Skoll. The former Jedi turned mercenary had been a highlight of Season 1, and it ended with it indicating he was seeking a source of power. Sadly, actor Ray Stevenson unexpectedly passed away before the series premiered. It's thus unsure if the role will be recast or if the character will somehow be written out of Season 2.

When will Ahsoka Season 2 premiere?

It's stated the new season is "in development" which means likely the writers are just starting to plan it out. Obviously, filming a Star Wars show is a big undertaking, and the post-production work means it's likely the series won't return until 2025.

So it'll be a wait, but fans of Ahsoka will be eager to see the character return and build on the excitement of this new Star Wars era.
