Get ready to cast a spell, as Disney has just announced when the Wizards of Waverly Place revival is hitting TV!

Today, Selena Gomez is known for her terrific roles in the hit Hulu series Only Murders in the Building, numerous movies, albums and even her own makeup line. Before all that, Gomez started on the Disney Channel, rising to stardom playing Alex Russo in Wizards of Waverly Place. The series focuses on the Russos, a family that owns a deli in New York. They are really sorcerers with a competition going on for which of their three kids inherits the magical gene.

Running from 2007 to 2012, the series showed Alex often getting into mischief using her magic for selfish purposes but helping out her family in the end. The other cast members included David Henrie as Justin, Alex’s more serious brother. The series ended with Alex becoming the one Russo child with magic while Justin became the new headmaster of the magical academy.

Now, fans are excited to hear the series is joining the trend of sequels to classic Disney shows as Wizards Beyond Waverly Place is coming. Gomez will appear in the first episode before Henrie moves into the lead. The plotline is Justin having left the magical world and has a normal life with wife Giada and their kids, Roman and Milo.

His quiet life is ruined when Alex drops in with Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown), a promising but undisciplined young witch. Knowing she’s not the right person to teach anyone, Alex convinces Justin to take Billie in and teach her, forcing Justin to reveal his magical past to his family.

The series returns to the classic studio audience setup of the original. Not only that but other Disney Channel alumns like Raven-Symone and Danielle Fishel will direct episodes.

The show was ordered right to the series, and now we have a date as the first two episodes will debut on Tuesday, October 29, at 8/7c on Disney Channel. Then, two more episodes will air on Disney Channel on Wednesday, October 30, with subsequent episodes then airing on Fridays at 8 pm beginning November 8. Also, the first eight episodes will be available on both platforms on October 30.

It’s absolutely perfect timing to have this series debut right around Halloween, when magical interest is at a high. No doubt, Disney will be prepping some marathons of the original series to get set for this as the Wizards look to make a fantastic return and bring back the old magic of that beloved series.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place premieres Tuesday, October 29 at 8/7c on Disney Channel.
