Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn, the second set for Ravensburger's hit collectible trading card game, is set to release this Friday, November 17. As was the case with The First Chapter, Rise of the Floodborn will first arrive at local game stores this week before coming to big box retailers like Best Buy, Target, Walmart and Amazon next month.
Disney Lorcana has been a smash hit since it first launched earlier this year, selling out just about everywhere almost immediately. High demand and limited supply resulted in secondhand sellers driving up the prices of all available products.
With Rise of the Floodborn now just a few days away from release, you may be wondering if you can pre-order the newest set. And if so, where it would be available.
Can you pre-order Disney Lorcana: Rise of the Floodborn
As I mentioned, Rise of the Floodborn is releasing first in local game and hobby stores. Unfortunately, most of these types of stores lack online storefronts, so the only way to purchase things is to go to them. Ravensburger has created a store locator to help you find nearby game stores that may have products in stock.
I recommend using the above site, finding your local game stores and giving them a call. As I've seen, it seems like pre-orders for Rise of the Floodborn are being handled differently depending on the store.
Some local game stores are not taking pre-orders because they aren't sure how much stock they'll have. Others are reserving their Rise of the Floodborn decks for tournament events. Some stores are taking pre-orders but already charging more than the suggest MSRP.
It all varies, so your best bet is to just call around and see what the different local game stores are offering. Odds are if you purchase from them, you're going to be paying more than if you purchased it from a big box retailer, like Walmart or Target.
Speaking of big box retailers...
Are stores like Walmart, Target or Amazon doing pre-orders for Rise of the Floodborn?
Again, we just don't know. The wide release of Rise of the Floodborn will be on December 1. This is when you should start seeing it sell at places like Target, Walmart and Amazon, although with The First Chapter, there were reports of these stores breaking street date and selling the cards early. It's possible that will happen again with Rise of the Floodborn.
I suggest frequently checking online and even popping into a few stores a few days before December 1 to see if anyone put out cards early. And as always, we'll keep you updated if we learn anything more.
