Loki's story of redemption came to a satisfying conclusion last year with the Season 2 finale of the hit Disney+ show. Before we get into this article, let me warn you that there some spoilers.
For those who missed out on the critically acclaimed series, the ending of Loki Season 2 saw the former villain fulfill his "Glorious Purpose," destroying the Temporal Loom and using his magic to hold all of the loose timelines together, effectively claiming the throne he always sought, although not necessarily the one he originally envisioned.
It felt like a pretty definitive ending for Loki, but Marvel Studios and actor Tom Hiddleston did such an amazing job at telling his story, that many of us aren't ready to let him go.
But what about actor Tom Hiddleston? Is he ready to move on from the role, or are there plans in the works right now for his return? The star was asked about the future of the G"God Loki" during a recent Disney+/Hulu event, and his answer may not be the one Marvel fans were hoping for.
“I truthfully don’t know," Tom Hiddleston told Variety when asked about the potential for a third season of Loki. "To go from this lost, broken soul in Asgard, and be given a second chance and learn so much about life that he actually gives himself to protect other people, has been such an honor.”
Marvel stars are notoriously tight-lipped about projects they are working on so I wouldn't be surprised if Hiddlestone is actually aware of what's going on behind the scenes at Marvel Studios but simply can't say it publicly. I know there's a lot of shake-up going on in the MCU as Marvel tries to navigate all the different timelines, the introduction of the Fantastic Four and the eventual arrival of the X-Men, but it would be silly to say goodbye to a character like Loki, who is one of the few remaining original stars of the OG MCU.
But perhaps there's room for Loki in a future X-Men movie. While Speaking to Variety, the actor said he'd love for his character to go head-to-head with Wolverine.
We probably won't get to see Hiddleston go up against Hugh Jackman's Wolverine, as Deadpool & Wolverine will likely be the final time the Australian actor plays the adamantium-clawed mutant, but perhaps we can see Loki square off against another version of the beloved mutant?
