As a former cast member who worked in Fantasyland, including Hundred Acre Goods, the Winnie the Pooh store in Magic Kingdom, I saw my fair share of popular Pooh Bear-themed merchandise. I was working on stock when we got a new shipment of the infamous crewnecks, and it was all I could do to keep a few on the racks.
I've noticed that the public leans towards nostalgic and/or minimalist merchandise which is why the crewnecks were so popular. A useful item with a simple design, featuring recognizable characters in a matching set you could get with your friends - the perfect souvenir. This might be why Pin Trading is so popular, it's sharable, easy to travel with, and oddly exciting.
I also noticed that Tigger is way more popular than I would have thought. Hundred Acre Goods sold small plush versions of the Winnie the Pooh characters for around $25, which is reasonable for a child's toy and affordable for a collector. We always had Pooh, Eeyore, and Piglet, but rarely Tigger, and never Kanga, Roo, or Rabbit. (A crime, actually.)
So when we did have Tigger, he sold out every time because he was a missing piece in their nostalgic, relatively inexpensive, easy-to-assemble collection. Even with all the merchandise Disney offers, I've noticed certain movies, characters, and even EPCOT pavilions get the short end of the stick. I was constantly asked for older characters, some I'd never heard of. (If you've heard of the Apple Dumpling Gang, please let me know.)
I agree that Disney is marketing towards adults because Hundred Acre Goods also sold the Steiff versions of Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, and Tigger. Steiff is a high-end German toy brand that produces hand-made stuffed animals, and they make stuffed Disney Characters. We only sold the 3 characters, and everyone wanted Tigger or Pooh. These stuffed characters were between $40 and $120.
We usually only had the bean-bag style $40 Tigger, and he sold well because he was the only stuffed Tigger option we had most of the time. If they couldn't find what they wanted in the parks or online, they went to a reseller. Discontinued merchandise sells for hundreds online, simply because it's Disney and they don't sell it anymore, like this pin lanyard selling for $160!

Knowing this, and knowing that the demand for Tigger is perpetually underestimated, I can predict that this new Tigger plush will sell out, and they will probably develop a matching set with all the characters if they haven't already. If you want one, I would get it sooner rather than later. If you're shopping in the parks, check stores at different times of day. You never know when a very overwhelmed college kid puts things out!
