To say that Bluey has become an absolute sensation since joining Disney+ would be a grand and glorious understatement, but things are about to get bigger and better for our favorite cartoon dog.
Bluey, Bingo, Bandit, and Chilli saw an absolute boom in 2024, and 2025 is certainly shaping up to be just as grand. That said, this year marked several milestones for both the characters and the series. The Australian animated series has certainly come a long way since episode one, but here are some of the triumphs the show has seen in this year alone.
The Minisodes
After the end of the show's much-anticipated third season, die-hard Bluey buffs were treated to a new miniseries with their favorite characters. While this series was essentially released as a way to breadcrumb fans and tide them over until season 4, it did the show a great service by expanding its world.
Using "Alongside" as the ideal example, viewers are treated to the world of Bluey's animated Brisbane seen through the eyes of two different characters (Bluey and Honey). The miniseries was just a small taste of what the artists and animators at Ludo are planning to do with the show, even after Joe Brumm's departure.
The Jonas Brothers Crossover
One thing that certainly wasn't on this Bluey expert's bingo card was a crossover with the Jonas Brothers. Any Disney Channel kid who grew up with Nick, Kevin, and Joe was likely over the moon to see them jamming out with Bluey during their trip to Brisbane.
The Jo-Bros are far from the only celebrity to proclaim their love for Bluey, but there's definitely something serendipitous about seeing these two Disney big-wigs coming together. The fact that Bluey composer Geoff Bush was also in the audience was also an unexpected treat.
Season 3
Season 3 of Bluey was an absolute smash, and this writer would be lying if he said he didn't get up extra early just to binge-watch. From "Bedroom" to "Surprise," this collection of 50 episodes had viewers by the heartstrings, and only left them wanting more.
So much was revealed in Bluey's third season that it's easy to see why the hype was so real. In this writer's opinion, it had some of the most emotional episodes that still resonate even months later ("Stickbird" anyone?), and we saw so much more of Bluey's animated Brisbane that we only wanted more. That brings us to our next entry.
Bluey's World
While it was only recently announced that Bluey and Bingo were finally making it into the Disney Parks, this writer can't help but wonder if the introduction of Bluey's World wasn't foreshadowing the inevitable. This immersive experience was only a small taste of what the wonders of Disney Imagineering could do.
Billed as "a unique guided experience for families and fans with innovative set designs, interactive games, and activities for children and adults alike," this was just the first step into making Bluey a park staple. Now if we only had an attraction at Disneyland or the Walt Disney World Resort.
"The Sign"
The show has been notoriously emotional since day one, but "The Sign" slammed viewers in the feels with a chrome-plated baseball bat. The 28-minute-long special broke new ground for Bluey, and it might have also paved the way for longer episodes in season 4 (as well as the upcoming film).
Bluey's lesson about adapting to and accepting change is practically universal, whether it's a wedding or moving to a new house. However, the way the episode flexed every creative muscle it had to give us the most heart-wrenching and heart-warming experience possible truly needs to be studied. It was truly Bluey's finest moment.
Big things are happening for Bluey and all her friends next year, but all her episodes and related content can be streamed right now on Disney+ and ABC iView.
