At this point, it's painfully obvious that Bluey has quickly become one of the most iconic TV characters in modern media. From cartoons to a full-length Disney movie in the works, fans have gone bonkers for the blue dog from Brisbane.
As popular as the show is, it's also outright bizarre just how much a children's show has affected not just its intended young audience but the adults as well. This strange phenomenon might explain why Bluey is one of the most beloved television shows, and the Nielsen ratings prove it.
Bluey soars to the top (again!)
A recent report from What's On Disney Plus shared that Bluey once again climbed to the top of the Nielsen charts, leaving shows like Grey's Anatomy and Dexter with their tails between their proverbial legs. The report shares the following statement,
"Disney continues to dominate the acquired and overall charts, with Disney’s biggest hits Grey’s Anatomy, Bob’s Burgers, Bluey, Lost” and Family Guy, making up the majority of these charts for Hulu and Hulu On Disney+."
As one of the biggest multimedia powerhouses out there, it's no surprise that Disney would dominate the charts simply due to its ownership of so many titles. That being said, it's remarkable to see something like Bluey dominate so many other mainstream shows.
At the time of writing, Bluey sits at number four on Nielsen's Top 10 Overall Streaming Chart, making it one of the most watched shows across multiple platforms. With both a fourth season inevitably on the horizon and a new movie coming out in 2027, Bluey is only going to get better with age. But why?
In simplest terms, it's because Bluey speaks a language all viewers understand. It might be a kids' show, but its use of relatable themes, positive morals, and realistic character development keep older viewers coming back for more, and even that description doesn't do it justice.
This writer predicts that Bluey is likely going to continue this trajectory as the year progresses. The moment viewers get the first whiff of season four on social media, they'll be on it like piranhas on a porkchop. After that, ratings are going to skyrocket. All we can do now is wait and see what happens.
Fans around the world can enjoy Bluey and all her episodes on Disney+ and ABC iView.
